Cowboy grill
Any of you guys in Texas or wherever have experience with these bad boys? Do you cook on the grid or use cast iron or steel cookware exclusively? Just curious. TIA

Always thought they would be a blast to cook on but I don't live in a place that's safe enough to cook with that much open fire.
Thank you,DarianGalveston Texas -
On the grid.
Love that type of cooking. Those look cool - link?

I have one. It's fun but they rust through in a hurry. And mine is a legit one, not a cheapo from Lowe's.

Rusted through 3/8 steel? Does it have a hole for ash and/or water in the bottom? I would think it would take at least a decade to rust through.

I want to have something like that made to fit my pit.

Looks like they would be easy to control heat zones, and versatile by moving food around.

Looks like a great rig to mess about with fire. Definitely has lots of possibilities. However, I personally think it would require too much of my direct attention to truly enjoy. I'm sure I would need the Fire Dept on speed dial as well.
Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
correction. 3/16 steel

It has a hole in the bottom but probably needs many more to drain properly. It has delaminated fast. I've had it for probably 5 years now so truth be told it probably will last a few more before the bottom completely rusts out. I also don't think mine is 3/8". More like 1/4".

Thanks Pete. Nice looking pit. Looks like the bottom link is the fabricator and the top link is one of their dealers. At first I thought one of them ripped the other off.

Not sure. I don’t think they are the same. I just assume this sorta pit is common in Texas. I have a guy tell me they are made out of scrap from oil industry

Hard 8 in Tx uses them in their restaurant to cook their steaks. They have them up at waist level which is a lot more convenient.
