You wouldn't think it, but ultra-pure water does not taste good.
That's why bottled water companies get mineral water as the source or make pure water and augment it with minerals (whatever that Coke brand is does this).

Or just add bourbon.

I make my own water for coffee by using Distilled water as a base then adding back Sodium Bicarbonate and Magnesium Sulfate (Epsom salt).

For brewing, some start with pure water and add mineral packs. Like "Beer Dust". Same stuff is made for coffee.

For brewing I just use toilet water. I use the distilled water concoction for my espresso machine to keep the Calcium hardness at zero to prevent scale. People spend thousands on reverse osmosis filtering systems for their home when it's a lot easier and cheaper to just buy a small box of Arm & Hammer and Epson salt.

That looks like the robot from lost in space, but I don’t remember it making coffee.
Love you bro! -
Impressive whatever that is.
I see cheap RO systems for under $200 at Costco all the time. Good for low volume needs. Depends on your water quality on how much money you'll spend maintaining them. If you're pulling in toilet water, you're going to go through a lot of resin and carbon filters.

I have the Ispring RO system from Amazon, 75 gallons per day. It takes my tDs post water softener from 315 to around 12. Sometimes its 22 and sometimes less, but it does a bang up job for drinking water. Well water is 425 TDS. It does waste a lot down the drain but I'm on a well so it's not an issue for me.
I use the RO water for coffee in an aeropress, works well.

One trick to those configurations is to put a larger reservoir in. I'm guessing they come with 3-5 gallon bladder tanks in that size. No reason not to put a larger tank on if you want to draw more at once for beer making or the rinse step when you wash your car.

Agreed 100%! When we first bought out 5 stage reverse osmosis system it took some time to get used to... I was on the fence about it for a few months, I changed the sediment filter and never looked back, it was disgustingly dirty...

There’s different recipes depending on the hardness profile you’re aiming for, but I’m following .65 grams of Epsom and .23 grams of baking soda per gallon. You need a digital scale that measures to the .01 gram. So each container should last me for the next 10 years at the 2 gallon per week usage I’m at now.

That's considered a large vehicle over here, they are too long for standard parking spaces at the supermarket!
-
they are just getting bigger and bigger here, it seems the 3/4 ton full size 4x4 extended cab is becoming the standard. the tailgates are so high its almost impractical to work out of

Trucks are street queens these days. I bet less than 10% ever see more than a kid’s playset in the truckbed. Even fewer see offroad or tow anything of substance.

I would agree with you and @fishlessman, mine is a DD most days and 9-10 months out of the year I could have probably gotten away with a mid size truck or car. But that little voice in my head said "bigger, more power, v8" haha. I don't go off road much, seldom for work but sometimes during duck season. We also just had a kid and I like that little man can't kick my seat from his car seat in the crewmax! There's plenty of times I am glad I don't have to put muddy duck hunting gear, crawfish, bait, gas, and my excessive amount of fishing gear in our honda accord 😁. I like to park in the grass sometimes too 👀, but at least I don't have mud tires!

i went from a dodge 4x4 with 125 hp to a range rover with 510 hp, im not going back. even the gas mileage is better. been in the mud rescuing a tundra stuck in the river, pull a lobster boat, the drive in to the camp right now is a mile of off road mudding. really wish the rover did not have carpeting, makes no sense to put that in an off road vehicle

Here in Texas they are the new luxury vehicle. You have people with significant wealth that used to buy a Lexus or Mercedes now buying $80K Platinum or King Ranch F250's, putting Black 22" rims on them with offroad tires and the most offroad they will see is when they accidently curb check it parking at the local Kroger.

A range rover is a posh off road vehicle, hence the carpets. You're living like a rich dude now.

I just sold $10k worth of company stock and will turn around and purchase it again inside my 2018 ROTH IRA once Fidelity releases the funds. Took a $2 loss per share... hopefully the stock price will drop by $2 before I repurchase.
