Lodge Oval 17 inch Pan

On the way home form Eggtoberfest - stopped by Lodge store and took advantage of great "store closing" sale - purchased a 17 inch cast iron pan - - I need suggestions how to modify the pan to fit the large BGE - I have seen some just remove the two handles - - any other suggestions -

I am pretty sure I recall someone was able to trim each handle so it would fit on the large. I searched but I can't find the post. Basically a cut like this on each side- trimmed off enough so the dome would close.

@mr toad - cut one handle to get that pan in my large.

A hack saw and a random orbital sander to smooth the cut. A bit closer to the pan than the above photo that @SmokeyPitt provided. I left the other handle on so that it would be easier to take out when it is hot. 80 grit sandpaper smoothed out the cut.

Someone should contact Lodge. They need to make pieces designed, and labeled, to fit in : XLs, Ls, and Ms.

Any chance you might be referring to the Commerce GA location? This is the one I usually stop at...and is about 20 miles in GA from the SC line?

I know the Concord Mills mall and was recently there so that that will be a solid location for me going forward. Always enjoyed the stop on the way to Atlanta though. That said, my wife will be happy to know the Commerce store is closing. I'll keep the Concord Mills news under wraps.

sorry for the confusion - yes - Commerce, GA - - alyce said that closing this store reduces the cost of eggtoberfest a goodly amount for us

Thank you all for this post! Bought our second Egg - a Large for our second home - and then thought the 17 inch Lodge would fit!

But thanks to this post my hubby has been grinding away at the handles
