I have a bag of Potatoes that have been sitting in my cool garage for about 60 days. They are getting soft, can I still cook with them? Looking to do 4 chickens and have a drip pan filled with potatoes and carrots. Doing a cook for a few of the older neighbors around me.

Cut one open and see what it looks like. Probably fine I've used soft ones before

Build a spud gun. This will deliver them to the neighbors much faster. Aqua Net as a propellant.

That brings back some good memories for meEggcelsior said:Build a spud gun. This will deliver them to the neighbors much faster. Aqua Net as a propellant. -
Assuming there's no rot on the inside, which can happen w. even firm 'tatrs, and there is enough left to cook after any eyes are carved out, yes, they are food. I cooked a bunch of old "new" potatoes a few days ago in lots of hot chix fat, and they were pretty good. Ugly, but crunchy outside, smooth inside.

As a kid, I got into major doo-doo when I popped off my spud gun at an elderly neighbor. These days, prob'ly NOT a better idea.Eggcelsior said:Build a spud gun. This will deliver them to the neighbors much faster. Aqua Net as a propellant.

So I cut a few and didn’t like what I saw, heading to the store for some that are a little fresher

Your neighbors are going to get some “good eats”, judging by your pictures.

I'm all for not wasting food, but if I had a bag of potatoes (or anything else) and I even remotely questioned whether they are good or not. I would err on the side of caution and throw them out and get new ones. Good to see you followed suit. Getting yourself sick or someone else ain't worth the $5 savings and 30min of travel time to and from the store. Looks like that dinner is a winner.

Potatoes are like cheese, cut off the bad stuff and roll.
Also never put acetylene with a short blast of oxygen in your potato gunSouth of Columbus, Ohio. -

Potato Uses
I was vacationing in the Bahamas couldn't seem to make it with any of the girls. So I lifeguard for some advice.
"Mate, it's obvious," says the lifeguard, "you're wearing them old baggy swimming trunks that make ya look like an old . They're years outta style. Your best bet is to grab yourself a pair of Speedos - about two sizes too small - and drop a fist-sized potato down inside 'em. I'm tellin' ya man... you'll have all the babes ya want!"
The following weekend, I hit the beach with spanking new tight Speedos, and a fist-sized potato. Everybody on the beach was disgusted as I walked by, covering their faces, turning away, laughing, looking sick!
So I went back to the lifeguard again and asked him, "What's wrong now?" "Damn, Mate!" said the lifeguard, "The potato goes in front!!"
