Cake Suggestions

Wife is almost 16 weeks pregnant and is craving a moist cake. Says she doesn’t want a store bought cake mix but something homemade. This forum hasn’t let me down yet. Any ideas or recipes you guys recommend? I appreciate the feedback. I probably won’t cook it on the egg but in the oven instead.

Awesome cake. She saw this post and that’s what triggered the cake conversation. Only thing is she’s not a fan of chocolate. Not sure how I married her knowing she doesn’t like chocolate.

Shirley Corrhier makes the best cakes. He book bakewise changed my wife’s life when it came to baking.

Congrats on the pregnancy! My son was born 1/5/19 and he has been the greatest thing that has ever happened to me.

Take a box of Duncan Hines mix it per the directions then add in 1 cup of mayo (full fat)... The most moist cake ever! We have a friend that is an operations manager here : https://www.portillos.com/portillo-sfamous-chocolate-cake/

Ok I will try that next cake I do. Hopefully it will be this week coming up. Didn’t have time to cook today like I had planned to.

My wife makes an incredibly moist cake in a pan called a poke cake. Lots of options for the stuff you pour in the poked holes, but we like pureed strawberries mixed with sweetened condensed milk best. It is good with whipped cream topping like a strawberry short cake or with a cream cheese icing as well.
Just google "poke cake." Good stuff and very moist and tasty.

Pineapple upside down cake in a cast iron skillet! I use boxed cake mix and add the juice from the canned pineapple. Butter, brown sugar .. Oh yeah

You can vastly improve box cake by subbing butter for the oil, and milk for the water called for in the directions. I've tried it a couple of times, and it was pretty darn good.
