Flip Brisket?

Should a brisket be flipped when cooking? Or should it just be left alone? If your mopping, is it ok to remove from Egg and flip to get the other side? I assume fat side up is the way to go too... I've had mine on for about 3 hours now and I'm getting punchy :-) Any help would be appriciated

I am far from an expert on this (only done two briskets), but everything that I have read on this forum suggests not flipping. However, when you foil and put in the cooler, that is when you want the fat side up.
Good luck! -
No need to flip it. Just let it ride.

fridge time with rub - fat side up, let the weight of the brisket marry the rub and meat
cook - fat side down for eggs
cooler - fat side up to baste but fair amount of liquid/drippings in foil can affect bark on down side. fat side down to minimize bark impact ok too.
cutting board - fat side up to trim fat cap if required
mouth - how ever you like itwww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc. -

I'm sure this has been resolved in the mind of the OP given 10+ years. But since I'm here-another "your protein, your cook" have at it. No chance I am messing with the brisket during the cook unless to remove the brick ( a whole new sideways thread). No need to mop anything cooking in the BGE but it's your cook. FWIW-

No flip, no baste for my 2¢LBGE, and just enough knowledge and gadgets to be dangerous .

I’m not smoking a brisket. Just searching old threads and invoking conversation out of curiosity. 🍻😎Llano, TX - Med and XL BGE’s
