I have had one for about 7 years.  I use it mainly for overnight cooks.  It has endured being left out in the rain more than once and still works great.  I like that the older model I have is not dependent on cloud servers and can work just fine without the internet as well.  I would buy another one!

FWIW, maybe you should spend some time with your egg and learn how to control the temps naturally before you think about a controller, get a feel of your egg then purchase a controller. I apologize If im way off base here, just I have one and only use it for long overnight cooks only and lately have not been using it at all. I like the babysitting, again thats me, and seeing it all the way through. Everybody's situation is different, I'm fortunate enough that if i do long cooks I can watch out for the egg, yours may not. However learn your egg!!!
