I have a permanent absentee ballot, have had it for years. I voted weeks ago. Walked from the mailbox to the recycle bin for the last month or so to get rid of tons of political lies.

All politicians should have a two term limit. One in office, one in jail.

Each State is different, but I think we make it pretty easy to exercise your fundamental right to vote esp given the price some have paid to make it so.

The polling station was moved to a local fire house. Not a good place. Almost no street parking. Closest lot, across a very wide and heavily traveled main road, no traffic light nearby. About room enough for 3 people inside the door before entering the truck bay set up for voting. An awning that might shelter 4. Otherwise, down the garage lane, and along the sidewalk. And it was raining most of the day.

And the ID scanning devices were taking 2 - 4 minutes to respond. I was 7th in, and it took a total of 25 minutes.

I go early, and at least half the folks there were probably retired like me. But I did here some of the younger folks saying that they would be heading straight to work. When I drove by a few hours later, saw that there was almost no line. Then realized everyone in it had grey hair.

Absentee voting seems ever more appealing.

It’s embarassingly depressing. There is no reason, no excuse as to why it should be so difficult for such a large number of Americans to vote. This is not to be taken as political, it's across the board. In Lexington today there were several precincts that had two hour waits to vote. That is way too long for anyone. Election Day should definitely be a national holiday and should occur over 2-3 days including a Saturday. I'm not talking about voter suppression, different topic for a different day.
this is how its done in massachusetts, get the policy adopted. it clearly does NOT work though, warren was re-elected as senator =)

no id required, if you cant make this happen then theres something wrong

There were 3 elderly people that came in while I was waiting in line to vote.  All three went directly to the poll workers and were allowed to the front of the line so they wouldn't have to wait.  With early voting, absentee ballots and allowing folks to the front of the line....I think we've made it pretty darn easy to vote.

Side note.....sad to see Florida passed Amendment 13 which bans dog racing in the state.

I personally think that too many people vote.

Too many uneducated, vote by perception, don’t know the issues, don’t have a clue people.

If if you don’t know who or what your voting for then don’t vote.

Unpopular opinion, but I agree.  It's a right, but it should be treated as a responsibility to be taken seriously.

My opinion on this is terribly unpopular and controversial, but I really believe if you distill it down to WHY (you and) I feel this way, it shouldn't be so controversial.

I just think if anyone's going to wield the POWER of a vote, they ought to know what the hell they're voting on, how it actually affects them, how it affects others . . .

Kinda ironic tho that many folks that claim to have a clue and claim to know and understand the issues in reality really don't.

I'll bet it was close tho and that his opponent pulled in 49.9% of the vote. :)

I didn't realise queues were such a problem in US elections. I live in London and have never experienced a queue when voting. I know it happens in some places but there are generally a lot of booths, and the analogue method of putting a cross in a box is fast.

I can't imagine it encourages people who are already apathetic to bother to vote

I'd like you to ask a few people in poorer, mostly-black, rural areas of Georgia (where the majority of accessible voting stations have been shut down) if they agree with you.

It's not unheard of in elections that really bring out a large percent of voters for folks to have to stand in line for hours.
Some of that is due to unforseen technical problems, some of it is due to incompetence of the voter registrar folks in apportioning/setting up booths,  some of it is intentional as a means of voter suppression.
Took my wife all of 10 minutes to vote this time but she is retired and able to go midday. A lot more folks have to go before or after work and that is when it can be pretty crowded with long lines. Longest I've ever had to stand in line was about an hour and a half when I made the mistake of voting after work during a Presidential election (never made that mistake again!).

Just another conspiracy by "the Man" to keep impoverished voters down.   Maybe Oprah and Will Farrell can fund the additional polling locations.
