Cook temp problems

Friday night into Saturday I had issues holding temp on a LS. I got to 250 and hooked up my BBQ Guru CyberQ to assist with temp control. Temp was having trouble holding and slowly dropped. After cooking for about 3 hrs a storm knocked out power and ended my controlled cook. I went old school and still had difficulty. It settled into about 160 and didn’t want to budge.

After reviewing my troubles I thought about what was the problem. I remembered I had a similar problem and what I did similar. As we know it’s all about air flow. I realized in my hope for a long cook I have been over filling the XL Egg ( I think).  Please look at the photo and give me you option.

The egg was fully cleaned and put back together (correctly). The lump was RW.  In the morning I blasted with a heat gun, opened the vents and final got her to a good temp.

 Thanks for looking
