I got promoted! What should I cook?

Just found out that I’ve been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel! BOOYA!! I am excited for the bump in pay. I’m also excited to see my friends and family for the ceremony and reception. I figured I’d go all out since this is more than likely my last promotion.
Need some ideas on what I should cook. I’m not above pulled pork, but I’d like to impress, if possible.
Probably 30-40 people, mid October, in Nebraska. Most likely it’d be a Saturday afternoon. Overnight cooking is doable. Reheating is an option if necessary. I’m working with a large and a MiniMax.
Thanks for the advice, gang!

Congrats Colonel and a sincere thank you for your service. I'd precook a bunch of pulled pork, vac seal and reheat. Then do quick cook appetizers on the Saturday. That way you can focus more on your guests and the event. I'd do shrimp skewers, veggies etc. Wings could be fun if you want a little more cooking time. Good luck and congrats.Sandy Springs & Dawsonville Ga

Awesome!!! Congrats. I'd do what Brent said above!

That is fantastic news!!
Sounds like someone should be cooking for you so you can enjoy the day with the family.
At a later time (Sunday) you cook what you want when you want. Ribeye cap for Breakfast? Done. Wings and shrimp for lunch? Sure thing. Beef Wellington for dinner? You bet.--------------------------------------------------

Congrats on the promotion. And, a little more $ is always nice.I'll suggest tri-tip. Pretty easy to do, so you can enjoy your day and show off your cooking skills a bit too. Serves a lot of people, and the results are to me just short of steak. The thin ends will be medium well when the center is medium rare, so lots of choices for those eating.
