Tile tip? I just cracked my new subway tile!
Hello all. I just finished installing a brand new subway tile backsplash in my kitchen. I was reinstalling the light switches into the box and apparently I overtightened the screw and a small crack appeared because the tile piece was thinner being cut around the box. I am beyond irritated. I’m torn between trying to take it out and replacing it or finding an effective solution to hide it. It pokes out around 1” beyond the edge of the light switch cover. I welcome any and all suggestions. Thanks.

That stinks! They do make oversized switch covers that might hide it but you might want to do all in that room so you don’t have 1 random larger one. However from a quick google it looks like they are only 3/4 of an inch overall taller, so you would only gain 3/8 on each side.

Yep. Get an oversized base plate. Trying to remove it could cause a project redo

I understand the annoyance, but it's not that big of a deal to fix.

Is there is a "she" in the equation? If so I would defer because it most likely wouldn't bother me.

Ha ha ha. Thanks for all the tips guys. My wife is quite OCD. I actually already have the larger switch plates on. I wonder if like liquid paper would cover it up enough? Or like white nail polish?

In my kitchen, I'd just smear some tomato sauce across it, and in two weeks you'd never notice it.

OP took it a step too far. The trick is don’t pick out the tile, don’t buy the tile, don’t call a contractor if you don’t plan on doing it yourself.northGAcock said:@theyolksonyou is an expert on backsplash if you need some good advice.
