    Sorry. but if you did not follow my post I was saying that for BGE corporate to yank the plug on Johnaton' s RW as a slam vs. the overpriced BGE "brand" of lump produced for them by Royal Oak then THAT makes no sense! In this world economy then I think the adage of  Live and let live,works!, IOW Rockwood runs circles around the crap BGE sells with their name "covering the RoyalOak" name!

    OP is talking about why he won’t use RO.As we mostly know RW is premium lump but the discussion of STL biz is not part of this discussion.   Your quote above was advertising a sale Ace had on his product. Back on topic please.

    Perhaps you missed it but in a comment earlier said business owner himself stated that he wouldn't talk about it until he got some more answers/explanations and then he might be able to share what he found. I believe @RRP is just asking him in that context.

    I've finally found a charcoal here (UK) that burns really clean and is fast and easy to light. The other stuff is now going to be used for the stove this winter. No point wasting good food by cooking it with bad lump.

    It's strange that the website won't let me select that location for a ship to.  You could always call them and ask them to order SKU 8400772.  I know that store has brought it through there before.

    Ace just launched this new site not too long ago......still kind of quirky in some respects.

    Just oeder from the Rockwood website and it arrives at your door.  Can't get much easier...

    I just checked the website and my local Ace must carry it now.  I'm going to go in and check it out!  I've been using RO for years and haven't had much to complain about.  But I'll give it a try :)  I just opened up a bag of Wicked Good I picked up at a local shop and It seems to burn longer and for sure has larger pieces than the small green RO bags.

    Don't get all the RO hate.  I've used it almost exclusively (orange bag at HD) for the past year or so and it's clean (no odd remnants), starts quick, burns clean, and leaves no odd taste/smell etc.   And I've use OO, RW and other highly touted lumps and really don't see much difference.  I'd use RW if I could get it locally, but no one around me carries it, including my local ACE that I frequent weekly.

    I used it a long time and found it to be perfectly fine, then the wheels fell off. I did a chicken that tasted like it had been through a tire fire. It didn't appear to be fully carbonized (the lump, not the chicken).

    i believe theres more than one plant which might be some of the problem. i burn mostly the hated cowboy lump and see no problems with it now, they did have problems in the past though

    Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago. Black, stinky smoke that wouldn't clear. Tire fire is an excellent description. No joking, two neighbors came over in a panic thinking my house was on fire.

    I took 9  bags back to HD and got an in-store credit.
