Kind of went on a diet late last year then put the Eggs away foo the hurricane and didn't fire them up for awhile. Then this year I retired back in January and took up woodworking so all my money went into that hobby. I don't pick cheap hobbies; guns, Ham radio, BGEs and woodworking.
I also found Woodpeckers Backyard BBQ in Saint Augustine and its so good that I was getting my BBQ fix there.
I fired up the MiniMax recently a few times for some steaks and kind of got the itch again.
So, I'm back and looking forward to smoking some Pig. Plus I got to do something with all that lump I have in the garage. Its taking up room that I need for my woodworking.
On the bright side I can use my woodworking tools to build me a new table for my Eggs.

Congratulations on all fronts but especially seeing the Q light and the return call of your BGE's. You will get your true priorities sorted out soon enough. Meanwhile, just enjoy the "every day is Saturday" lifestyle.

Welcome back and congrats on your retirement. Hope you don't get the itch and go back to work though

Glad to have you back. What kind of woodworking tools did you get into? Ive been looking at those Sawstop table saws that stop immediately if it touches any flesh. A little pricey, but worth it to keep a finger!Milton, GA

what fun is that? I take all the safety stuff off my table saws first thing, except for the riving knife. Then I set a 3 drink minimum before I use it. I lost a chunk of thumb when I was around 17 on a table saw and I'm very aware, ever since, of every potential accident and where I am relative to the blade.GoooDawgs said:Glad to have you back. Same age as me when I went down to the bone on one finger (others probably to follow) before the blade jammed. Extremely careful now, you only get that lucky once.nolaegghead said:

I was walking though the wood shop in high school and some kid pinched a 3' square piece of plywood in the table saw, this resulted in a giant square frisbee violently flying 10' across the room and nailing me in waist line. Damn close.

SawStop is good stuff. I love the technology and I looked long and hard at them but in the end I decided they were just too expensive right now.GoooDawgs said:Glad to have you back. I ended up with a Laguna Fusion F2 hybrid cabinet saw. Half the price and just as good if you keep your fingers out of the blade.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

Thanks for the warm welcome home. Been getting my BBQ fix at Woodpeckers Backyard BBQ in St. Augustine corner of SR13 and SR16A. Just got back from there a few minutes ago.
We have been getting thunderstorms almost every afternoon. Kind of makes it a little rough on smoking meat. I love BBQ and smoking meat but getting pounded by wind and train while praying the lightning doesn't get you kind of ruins the fun.

Welcome back and congratulations on your retirement. I hear you about the thunderstorms. I get around it by starting to cook earlier, since I have all day to get ready and cook. Enjoy your new and old tools.Ubi panis, ibi patria.

I haven't had my Forrest blade on there for a while because I resaw plenty of recycled wood and it's a terrible feeling to see a $100 blade rip through a buried nail.

I understand about the Forrest blade. One of the reasons I decided against the SawStop. Everytime that thing fires you are dead in the water until you spend the money to replace the cartridge and buy a new blade. I'm okay with that if it protected my finger. But with all the wet wood and crap that the Big Box stores sell I though it could very expensive replacing things.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.
