    Modular Nest Puchase

    I finally decided to buy the two unit modular nest, and, expect delivery from Atlanta to CVille on Friday May 18.  This will replace my 15 year old table, after 4 moves.  Hopefully, my large egg will like it’s new home for another 15 years.

      Costs are complicated as it is a base cost of $439, plus costs for wheels and extension.  I would just ask your local dealer.  Acme Stove in CVille had a fully assembled one they could have sold me.  But, I ordered it new Wed and am picking up now.

      The sections are less, but then you have to buy the inserts......acacia, distressed acacia, ss wire, or solid ss.  The egg base comes with a wire rack

      Everything comes with adjustable feet.  The casters are extra.

      Saw on in my store today and liked it. Paid for it and they will bring it on tuesday. Ill let them lift my egg and place it onto to the new nest.

      Sold one today.  List price, you're going to be into for a grand before the tax.

      That's the egg table, expansion table, three wood inserts (comes with one wire), and the casters.  Not sure if they're coming out with a cover, but the dome cover / shower cap is a good option for now.

      Yep all of it.

      That's actually 6 pallets of smoking wood chips.....apple, cherry, hickory, pecan, peach, and sugar maple (and another full pallet on the shelf.)  8 large, 8 Minimaxs, 3 XL's, a medium, and whatever is on that pallet (looks like a case of BugASalts and some BBQ Dragons).

      Yeah I was surprised too when I added it all up.  There's pretty nice though.  When you figure the XL acacia tables and you add the cover and maintenance, they're a couple hundred more (which is not much more than a XL nest, mates, and cover.)  Kind of expensive for the Large, but not crazy for the XL.....IMHO.

      To purchase myself, nah - way to much.  If I had made it, well - a grand seems a little light.

      Just bought the exact same setup for my XL. Hoping to have time to assemble before July 4th. Thanks for sharing the pic, it helped me to make my mind up.

      BGE doesn't have them in the directions.  You could always add them if you felt you needed them though.  You would put them on the egg side.  It's pretty solid without them.  However, their pics on the website show it with wheels in the middle.

      Mine has wheels on all the legs. More solid.  :)

      I had the same thought about center wheels.  My BGE store in CVille actually said no, it can cause moving problems.  Once assembled, I could see that the design and heavy duty bolts and plates keep the middle rigid.  Good point though.  I just took this picture of the table after one month with egg installed, multiple moves and smokes.  Still seems the same.

      I wouldn’t install both sets of center wheels, but rather just one set. IDK. Either way.

      Found out your supposed to install one set in the middle, on the egg side of the table.  Only problem is that it doesn't sit flat on an uneven surface.  Not sure if you really need them, but apparently supposed to have one center set.

      Yes need them on all legs, egg is now selling all table casters in set of 2......because of the new modular table system.  I'm not a fan of the table modular table.

      It certainly will in the UK. My guess is that when the tables hit our shores, they will retail for around £1100. It seems that most BGE stuff in the UK simply has the $ sign changed to a £ sign, with a bit added on, e.g. the MMX stand is $130-ish in the USA and £140 here.

      So I showed the modular design to a friend who's an excellent cabinet maker and woodworker. He reckoned for £1100 he could make a table of similar spec that included a granite worktop. I'll go with that.

      @TheToast / @Eoin - do you have any plans to purchase the modular tables?
