Momma Jean's BBQ, Lampasas, TX

Saw this article on my Facebook feed and it inspired me to take a day trip in this 105* TX heat to Lampasas today.

https://www.texasmonthly.com/video/small-town-smokers-momma-jeans-bbq/

They  were open 11-3 today, we showed up ag 11:50 and it seems we were first in line.  However, they were soon busy with a line after we showed up.

Simple menu of brisket, ribs, and sausage.  Sides of potato salad, coleslaw, and beans.  I didn't see the greens on the menu, but I am sure I just missed it.  There were also several deserts.

I had a 3 meat plate with potato salad and coleslaw.  My niece had the chopped brisket sandwich.  My daughter had two servings of Blue Bell ice cream.

Excellent food and worth the 45 minute trip to get here.  :)  If you find yourself driving through Lampasas, I would recommend the stop!

Southlake, TX and Cowhouse Creek - King, TX.  2 Large, 1 Small and a lot of Eggcessories.

Love it! Seems like a great guy, loves what he's doin', food probably tastes every bit as good as Aaron's... and no line!

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I didn't watch the video before I went, but the seasoning on the meat was perfect.  The potato salad was incredible and I wish I would have known to ask for the greens....

  • My MIL lives in Lampasas and she has been raving about it. I took it with a grain of salt since her favorite restaurant is Sonic

We go there all the time so I'll have to check it out.

We go through there often enough. We’ll try it next time.

Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
"Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"
