Midland will do that to you. That’s for sure. There isn’t much to do here besides drink. Or actually living here drives you to drinking.

These shrimp was a test. I cooked them different from how I normally cook shrimp. The shrimp never “boiled”. When everything else was done boiling, I turned the fire way down so the water was simmering at best. At this point I dumped the shrimp in and constantly stired them until they were pink and had curled. I had my wife holding a thermometer in the water while I stired, the water dropped to 187 degrees when I dumped the shrimp in and when I called them done it had only risen back to 192 degrees. At this point I dropped the temp to 147 degrees for the soak.
I have to say it worked great. The shrimp peeled very, very easy and tasted just as good as the way I normally cook them. Probably going to do it this way from now on.

That spicy Conecuh sausage - oh my.
It’s great grilled, smoked or fried as well. It’s easily in my top five store bought sausages.

Store bought here is only the plain Conecuh, which I do enjoy grilled and fried. My German ancestry would add boiled with potatoes and onions to your cooking methods. Have their web site bookmarked for ordering their other products; you being "Just this side" of Biloxi means you aren't so far from Evergreen, AL so distribution is a lot better. :)

OK - I'll show my uninformed and unfamiliar flatlander side having lived my whole life in midAmerica:
You just cook the shrimp as is? No cleaning-z-guts, heads, hard tail shell and poop vein?

Look at the top pic. The shrimp have been deheaded and hulled for deep frying.
For boiling, I cook them as is. Heads and shells still on.

Ron, sadly today’s shave got pushed to the side.
Soaking in a hefty dose of cayenne.

Egg soaked, cayenne covered and battered.

    Hot grease time.

Looking as good as a BBS shave Ron =)
Hope you like these Ron. I will post the shave later today.

Conecuh sausage is from my part of the world. Evergreen is about 20 min south of me. Excellent sausage and excellent family that owns it.

I have never met the folks but I have ate tons of their sausage. Great stuff no doubt.
On that same note, if those folks are half as good as their sausage, they are no doubt great people.

I bought them right off of the boat when it pulled into the dock. They were just about as fresh as it gets.
And thank you for the kind welcome back my friend. On that same note, it’s great to be home.

Brother D, there is a real good chance that I will be in Pennsylvania come September. Matter of fact I may be there for several months. I may end up a Company Rep for Shell oil at the ethylene plant they are building up there.
If that’s the case, I give you my word I will ice down some shrimp and bring with me. I will gladly fix you up if this job opportunity pans out.

For your line of work, that makes sense. Shale country, fracking has got things moving up that way. It's just a bit over a two hour drive from me. You'll need something to do on the weekends, and I have a couple wore out Webers you are welcome to come down and fool around with.

Seriously, if you need me to call an Uber or Lyft for you brother, I will. I've seen the stuff you post from a deep fryer, and I just haven't gotten there yet. And I'll have plenty of oil and whatever else you need to make it happen. And we have a spot here for you to stay in the basement if you can sleep in the same level as there is a bar.

We will sure get together and cook up some stuff. As far as sleeping in the basement, it would be no problem. I can sleep on a barbed wire fence if need be =)
