Off the Charts Good: Grilled Souvlaki with Homemade Pita

I saw a recipe on Sunset for grilled souvlaki that looked good, and boy am I glad I tried it. Grilled souvlaki with homemade pita, minted yogurt sauce, cucumber-tomato salad and pickled red onions. It was a bit of work, but it was fantastic! My wife, who is a bit stingy on praise, said it was one of the best things I had made. It will certainly stay on the rotation.
I had never made pita before...very easy compared to other pizza dough and other breads I have done, will do that again.
The Harissa hot sauce was good, but the flavor of the souvlaki alone was so good ended up not wanting it on the final product.

Thanks for posting that! Looks and sounds GREAT! Bookmarked.
Oh, and your pics are far better than Sunset's.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I bookmark many of your cooks, and definitely this one. Outstanding!
the pita takes it over the top. Can’t have mediocre bread with a cook like that

Looks amazing, gotta give this a shot! I did something similar with chicken and homemade Arabic bread once, but it didn't turn out as good as this looks.Albuquerque, NM - LBGE and an old rusted gasser that I use for accessory storage.
