OT. Anyone in eggnation have experience with one of these?
1500F temps. Pricey and the overhead broil factor coupled with adjustability of cooking height has caused me to want, not need, one of these pretty much single purpose cooking contraptions
Made in Germany so build quality is likely high. Has compact size even for the double version
I will probably get one by end of this year....

get a roccbox for $600 and you will have a kickass pizza oven and broiler. $1200 for an infrared broiler is insane. But I like it anyway.Keepin' It Weird in The ATX FBTX

I've been keeping an eye on this myself, but it's a little too expensive for what it is IMO. It would be nice is those ceramic "sear stations" built into gassers could be flipped up-side-down.
Btw, someone PM'd me this morning over on Reddit about the Otto Wylde. I'm assuming that wasn't you?South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave -

I actually purchased one recently direct from Otto Wilde. I was hesitant due to the cost, but it is pretty awesome. I actually reached out to Julia at Otto Wilde and they had a few "scratch & Dent" ones for a big discount and with the full warranty. She is great and sent photos of each and let me pick which one. The one I got had the smallest light scratch in the stainless, but nothing more. They also threw in some free things also and shipping was fast from Germany.
It gets up to temp immediately. We have used it for finishing off reverse sears and have cooked a few Tomahawks on it from start to finish. Including the 67 day one in the photo from our dry ager. No flare ups and you can get the steak as close as you want to the burner. Haven't used it for pizzas, but I'm sure it would work very well. I will try to get a video or photos tomorrow when we throw something in it.

So how does a broiled steak on the Otto Wilde compare to a grilled steak on the Egg?South of Nashville - BGE XL - Alfresco 42" ALXE - Alfresco Versa Burner - Sunbeam Microwave -
Smoke vs no smoke really. The OFB is just extremely fast and easy. And will get a great sear fast without overcooking the steak. And no flare-ups. But being cooked over coals/wood is always better.

Seems like every start-up/crowd source product demo video uses the same goofy midi sound track.

These guys use it all of the time on their sous vide channel. I think it would be a great tool in the arsenal:

I had an office in an old Victorian once in SF that had a professional salamander (sp?) in the kitchen. I was maybe 23 and didn’t know ****.
Best nachos ever. -
Another option... One of the few tools I don't have.

Would be a game changer if a gas grill manufacturer came up with a modular ceramic burner system that allowed for up-side-down orientation. I think I said this already... oh well, maybe they're reading this for next year's ideas.
