Dome Thermometer Calibration

I've had the egg for about a year now, but first post.  How often do you all calibrate your Dome Thermometer?  Dipping in boiling water the best way?  Thanks

Boiling water is the best way that I have found.  I do it when I feel like something is "off".  Ultimately I would say it depends on how often you go nuclear as that can stress the dial.

I don't do it very often, or with any regularity. Some folks do it twice a year when they reset their clocks for DST.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I calibrate before every L&S unless just performed within the past few weeks.  BTW- the BGE tel-tru thermos are quite reliable.  I think I have adjusted out around a 10*F off-set on one of the thermos one time.
But the key to knowing how the cook is progressing is to trust your indication(s).  FWIW-

We calibrate every time we compete since there is so much at stake. But a good way to go about it is calibrate it whenever you begin to have any doubts about its accuracy. Also not a bad idea to calibrate if you wrap it all the way around and it starts coming up the other side because it is at 1000 degrees :)

    Happy cookin' ! Chris

I tend to do mine a couple times a year. 100*C is the easiest for me.
