1st fest and let me say that the friendly folks & atmosphere was that similar to a Dead concert. No wonder the official term is "Egghead".[p]Ed truely is the Bill Graham of BBQ fests.[p]Excellent to meet some of the folks from the forum, again, like a dead concert; I didn't get to meet (hear) everyone (every song) but those that I did I certainly enjoyed. Just like old friends, family indeed..And I was glad for you to see me n my rugrats.[p]Doris from BGE watched my goodie bag and plate setter and even when she stepped away, no worries, there was trust - and I thank you.[p]With those ramblings done the food was perfect, the beer was cold and the weather was absolutely priceless.[p]Eggs should be available for pickup during the week following, normal business hours. 1:45 in the van with 3 kids ain't fun - knowing we were closer to taking an Egg home made it bearable and worthwhile, it was the destination not the journey this time.[p]Chubby & the Texas folks are so genuine they must have some Georgia blood in 'em. The simple cedar plank chicken was best of show (along with the flank ... and lamb that doesn't really taste like lamb.) I didn't even know she was the thermopen gal or I woulda had a price point discussion with her ~ that goes for you too Chubby with the grill thingy (:-) x2 to both of ya)[p]Lurker for years here but a poster from here on out.[p]If you have never been to a fest, save your money & c'mon down. It seems as though a room will be necessary next year. Cya then![p]Bonus rambling : John Paul, Chef and the FM, Dizzy Pig Champ (NB I think), raffle misses by one number, dude with the felt hat, sweating cookers, Lady n the shoe, BGE staff, Korean BBQ, turducken, yelling the countdown to Taste It, hunting down Julie for disappearing mustard, brie n raspberry bomb comes to mind.
I have a few other posts, cook notes so be sure to see em. [p]BTW - we need a real message board. See www.Atlantafalcons.com then "fan" section - then "message board". I posted a message about the fest there in "Tailgating" section.

It was great to meet you and your georgeous little ones!![p]Meeting folks like you...is most of why I attend these fests![p]Once you get your new Egg broken in...it will be a wonderful way to spend some quality time and good eats with them as well!![p]I fully expect you to be a "Cooker" next year...!!![p]As to the GrateMates...just let me know when you get a Small to go with your Large, and I'll help you as you see fit!![p]See you around here, and Ann says "hello" to the ladies!![p]Evans
I spent most of my money on good bourbon, and bad women...the rest, I just wasted!! -
Eggomaniac,[p]Thanks for the kind words. It was a fun time for all and for my first time, also, it was something else. Because I was working, I didn't get around to meeting many but still had a good time. People were kind enough to bring food around. It was a long but good day!!

Chubby,[p]We appreciated meeting ya & thanks/hello to the Mrs.'s. I told em you were a legend & they knew you were a good chef & good guy once we met. [p]I'll be cooking and have 4 under the belt so far (see other post)[p]No one will ever see this post since posts aren't bumped. Do we need a collection plate?
