Hey I owned a VW diesel until a year ago and may own. VW electric car in the future. I will never own another Samsung phone though.WeberWho said:

From what I have seen they have seen the error of their ways. At least I can safely carry one in my front pants pocket.WeberWho said:"Apple is throttling processor speeds when a battery capacity deteriorates over time."

I'm sure there's never been a VW that's caught fire.
Samsung didn't intentionally have their phones catch fire. Just like how car manufacturer wouldn't want their vehicle's to catch fire. Apple intentionally throttled their phones. I'm not saying Samsung phones are the best phones available but I'd think twice about buying an Apple iPhone after what they were caught doing

get the X. the FaceID unlocking is amazing - that feature alone is worth the extra money (makes it feel like your phone basically doesn't have a PW, but still has the same security). I could never go back to either the temperamental fingerprint unlock or the number punching.

That's good to hear. I have not heard a lot of feedback on it and I was going to recommend getting the 8plus. (I have the 7plus and am happy with it).Bill_Swerski said:get the X. the FaceID unlocking is amazing - that feature alone is worth the extra money (makes it feel like your phone basically doesn't have a PW, but still has the same security). I use the phone a lot at night or when driving, though. I have a mandatory lock timeout because I sync it with work email which has tighter requirements. So I am constantly having to unlock my phone. Does the face ID work in the dark or when mounted on your car holder? It seems that in those situations, it would be inconvenient to wait for the number pad to come up. Take off hats or sunglasses, etc.

It seems to work better in the dark. I've had mixed to poor results with sunglasses though.KiterTodd said:

One nifty corollary to the face unlocking is that your notifications won't show their content until you hold the phone up to your face, so other people can't read your text messages, etc (if you have that enabled).

Technically, yes, but only when not throttling it would cause the phone to shut down. Which, to me, beats orphaning phones a generation faster. I have a 6S and, while iOS 11 did some weird stuff initially, it's been very stable for the last month or so. I've noticed all my iOS devices start to freeze or become otherwise unreliable when they get low on free space, which seems to me like a better explanation for the perception that "my old phone always gets slow when the new one comes out." Apple's put some more granular "help me clean out my filesystem" controls in iOS11 that have really helped on an iPad Air that I stupidly bought with only 32GB.WeberWho said:"Apple is throttling processor speeds when a battery capacity deteriorates over time."
