Pork bellies as per Malcom Reed's recipe.  You will not be disappointed.
True statement. But, they take a long cooking time, and, more importantly the last time I made them, 4 of us polished off 3/4 of a belly as an app.  Delicious.

I guess you could go on the "leave them always wanting more" philosophy...

Those are really good and all the prep can be done ahead of time except the last heating. Tried them at the Georgia Mountain Eggfest!

I have several friends that don't like real spicy that like this appetizer.       Sweet Chicken Bacon Wraps- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts-1 Pound thin sliced bacon-2/3 C Brown Sugar- 2 TLBS Chili Powder.  Cut chicken breast into 1" cubes, cut bacon slices into thirds, wrap each chicken cube with bacon & secure with toothpicks, stir together brown sugar and chili powder. dredge chicken with brown sugar mixture- can shake in zip lock baggie, place chicken on broiler pan, bake 350 for 45 minutes or until bacon is crisp,

@zman51 - I prep ABT's quite frequently the night before.  I cover the platter/tray with shrink wrap while in the fridge and have never needed or used toothpicks.  FWIW-
    Thx for the info!
We do the same for Eggfests. Just don't season the outside of the ABTs ahead of time. It will start pulling water from the bacon and become a soggy mess sealed in plastic.
    Thank you,

@Sea2Ski, they go so well with a good beer.  Yep, they can be like a good hog crackling, before you know it, it's too late and you've devoured the whole damn thing.

The problem with a problem is that you don't know it's a problem until it's a problem, and that is a big problem.

I'm a big fan of pig shots.
That's a fine choice and confirms you're a man of great taste.  Here's a link...can't go wrong with these.

One tip on ABT's - ya slice 'em in half like boats, but I roll them a little and get the point of the jalapeno to point up from the cutting board.  Then I slice down thru that orientation.  It really helps keep them from rolling over or losing their cheese when they are on the grill.

Also use thin bacon and I've found I can wrap 'em tight enough I don't need toothpicks!

    Chili Bacon Meatballs (Publix recipe)

    Ingredients

    Nonstick aluminum foil
    1/2 cup brown sugar
    1 1/2 tablespoons chili powder
    8 slices bacon
24 frozen Italian-style fully cooked meatballs (about 14 oz)
    Toothpicks

    Steps

    1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line baking sheet with foil. Combine brown sugar and chili powder.
    2. Cut bacon slices into three equal pieces; wrap 1 bacon slice around each meatball and secure with toothpick. Repeat with remaining meatballs. Roll each meatball in sugar mixture until well coated. Place on baking sheet (wash hands). Discard remaining sugar mixture.
    3. Bake 25–30 minutes or until bacon is crisp and meatballs are 165°F. Let stand 5 minutes to cool. Serve.

  • If you make ABTs, I recommend using onion & chives cream cheese. It adds a little more "BAM"!

Thanks all. Got all the ingredients for the abt and shots. I am trying to figure out when I should start the cooks. Both recipes say cook until the bacon is done. A general ballpark on how long this will take?

Stick meat works. Quick to make and all the work is done in advance. There used to be a recipe for sates (satays) on here somewhere.
