Grillgrate Question/Issue

So I was at a local Egg dealer yesterday getting a new fire ring through warranty, and was shopping around. I noticed they had a set of Grillgrates on clearance It was 2 the two panel with the tool. I'd looked at them in the past but hadn't convinced myself I wanted them yet. Yesterday, they were 50% off the going rate, but were open box, final sale (you can probably see where this is going). I picked it up, thinking "well the egg is 18 inches so this will fit!"
Wrong. The corners prevent the egg from closing, they're probably half an inch too big on each corner. I've worked through a couple scenarios and just wanted some input from some other folks who might be a bit brighter than myself.
Scenario 1. Use one grill grate at a time. It fits. It works. But it doesn't give that much space to use it.
Scenario 2. Grind/mill/cut the corners off so it fits. Aluminium should be easy enough to work with. It's kinda redneck tho...
Scenario 3. Try and sell them for what I got them for, and just put the money towards the egg set. I'm not sure how much of a market there is for them, especially in the frosty Canadian winter...
Thoughts?

I own GG's, they are awesome. Myself, knowing what i know - I trim them.
Among other things, here's how i use them for boneless chicken breast : get the GG's to 450 dome temp (which will translate to about 600 degrees GG's temp)
Put chicken on GG's for four minutes, then rotate for four minutes - flip & repeat.
16 minutes total time, who have some fast awesome grilled chicken breasts.I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca. -
I know from experience that the grillgrate aluminum is extremely tough. I purchased 3 18" sections, one I took to a local machine shop and had a radius cut on two corners. I now can use it with one or both of the other grates to cook on multiple grills. I wouldn't be without it though it was a little pricey. YMMV...........DaveBlessed are the flexible for they shall not get bent out of shape.

Grill Grates make a special kit just for Kamados......we have them in the store. It's the standard rectangles with the corners cut off.

I cut corners off of one of mine to get it to fit in my small. I seem to recall it wasn’t as easy as I was expecting and it definitely wouldn’t be mistaken as having been cut by a professional but it works for me.XL, Large, Small, Mini Eggs, Shirley Fabrication 24x36 Patio, Humphrey's Weekender, Karubecue C-60, MAK 1-Star General, Hasty Bake Gourmet, Santa Maria Grill, Webers: 14" WSM, 22.5" OTG, 22.5" Kettle Premium, WGA Charcoal, Summit S-620 NG

Yes, those of us raised in Saskatchewan hold that distinction.
