Cleaned this one up and can barely make out Piqua Ware. An older one, with the heat ring.

Griddle is a little roached on the bottom, but not warped, no cracks, or pitting on top.  This thing is huge.

That is something else.  Congrats on the memorable day with dad.  Have fun prepping the acquisitions.

    Thanks bud, it was memorable.

Two at at a time, lol.
Good thing is, majority are prepped and ready for seasoning.  Maybe 5 need stripping.
That #12 looks new.  I don't think it was ever used.  I dove head first into this honeyhole.

Focker: Hi my name is Focker and I have a problem.  It has been 1 day since i purchased something made from cast iron.

    Group: "Hi Focker"

Seriously though, nice finds.  I have been eyeing a 14 at church - nobody uses it.  Not sure the brand.  Nobody cooks at the church anymore.  There is an old Castle brand stove/double oven/griddle top there too, it must be all of 60" wide - pilot lights are always on.

    So true, lol.

Hopefully you can get that 14 home at some point.

This old Monarch was the last thing sold.  One of the nice old timers I was chatting with said it was from Beaver Dam, WI.  Didn't hear what it went for, as being a big guy, I am always called upon to be the human forklift.  I played around with it, did try to pick up the left end, and laughed.  They are really neat though.  Served two purposes around here during the colder months.

I just sold one like that!

It had a water heater tank on the side too.  We were going to restore and put in the house.  Decided against.  The person who bought it said she was going to use it for baking bread.

@Focker @kl8ton That old stove is great. I'd love to have something like that to restore and use - probably never will - but still.
I truly am interested in those top panels of the stove - the three rectangles with the circular inserts. Can they be bought new? Alternately, are those ever available at auction separately?

Looks like an incredible day! I’d have bought way too many pieces and find myself with no room for all of it.  Please share some updates on the restoration and cooks with some of them.  :)

Those parts are pretty hard to find.  My wife bought our wood burning cook stove at an auction.  I tried looking for parts as I was planning the restore.

I can see the wheels turning in your head.  Just get the plates and build them into something?  I think that would be cool if that is what you are thinking.  You could do it with Hot Rolled steel pretty easily and for minimal cost.

I never called them, but these two places supposedly have antique stove parts:

@sciAggie There are a few manufacturers of new wood burning stove/ovens.  You could do a little searching and see what they want for just the inserts.

That link you posted is pretty cool.

    Thank you, it really was.
I will update, as used.  The Piqua Favorite griddle won't fit on the kettle, feeling some cold weather Francis Mallmann stuff with that piece.

The CI haul aside, the time with your dad is priceless. I get the value of that, as we (and they) get on in years. Sounds like y'all had a great day together.

    @R2Egg2Q,

This was after 1 sheet of 320 grit wet/dry.

And then a quick scrub of Bar Keeper's Friend.

Next step is finding a vessel big enough to season it in.

Wags griddle fits perfect on the cooktop.  Washed, and seasoned once, back to baseline.

Wow, you made a lot of progress on the restorations!  Just might inspire me to get back to restoring a few pieces I’ve been slacking on.   :s

Thanks a lot guys, only 3 pieces out of the lot require a lye bath, pushing to get the majority done before the cold weather approaches.  Really pleased with how the #9 Favorite griddle came out.

The low base WI sits at the perfect height over the smaller front right burner on the Bosch, will touch that up and get it in the rotation soon for some blueberry waffles.

Ambients in the 60s, opening the house up to finish the 3 most crusted pans.  The bottom Piqua will be a great user, really light for iron, smooth finish.
