    6. Grill indirect at 400° for 40 to 45 minutes. If using a foil covered plate setter which I prefer I find no need to turn them during the full cook. If grilling direct, only cook at 350° dome, monitor carefully and turn every 10 minutes.

I finally got a chance to try this.  My SO and I both agree these were the best looking and best tasting wings we have ever had.  I had about half the number of wings, so I tried to cut back the amount of sauce proportionally.  I did the full 50 hr marinade process and grilled direct at 350, turning every 5 minutes as I had other things that needed turning as well.  This may be our new "dish to take to parties".   It is certainly the way we will always do wings.  Thanks for posting.

I printed that one. V8 is an interesting addition. Are you getting any "cooking" from the lemon juice? I'm looking forward to trying this.

I did it last weekend and the family agreed that they were great! Burnt a few hanging over the edge of the platesetter but other than that they were outstanding.

Granted lemon juice can have an adverse effect on chicken, but I believe it is adequatly diluted so it doesn't "cook" it in this recipe and for that time. However one time we had a problem come up and the swim went 80 hours and those were not at all good so I blamed the lemon juice for that.

I made Georgia Red drumsticks on Monday. Same recipe, technique, and marinade time. Turned out pretty good. Not as good as the wings because I don't think the marinade got quite as deep, but still pretty tasty. Family ate them up.

30 wings are sitting in the marinade as I make this post. Couldn't find Texas Pete so went with Louisiana Hot Sauce.

I'll take them out Friday night and let them sit in the fridge, uncovered unless Ron chimes in and says differently.

Texas Pete is simply a bit milder than LHS so you'll be just fine! Besides the amount of either in the overall recipe concoction only plays a minor role. At least to me Georgia Red Wings are NOT hot wings - just very tasty wings!

Thanks Ron.  Made these today and they were great.  We ended up marinating for 72 hours.   My wife doesn’t care for really spicy wings.  These were perfect for us.

GREAT! Glad you two liked them. My wife is the same - can't take the heat nor spice. Like I tell people - the flavor from the long swim gets clear through the meat instead of just laying on the surface like most wings recipes.

Just did another batch.  I only had one pack of wings, so I threw in a few chicken thighs.  They turned out as good as the wings, so I will probably start including a few thighs in future cooks.

I wonder if anyone's tried these with Zing Zang instead of the V8 juice.

Personally I don't care for the taste of Zing Zang, but once I was practically out of Hot V8 so I used Mr & Mrs T.  I could not tell any difference. With such a small amount of 1 cup I just don't feel either way makes much difference.

LOL - over the years I have tried many on the market, published recipes as well as home made concoctions and we keep going back to M/M T's original - not even their hot and spicy one. Part of the reason is some go through me like water thru a goose - so I decide those are better off to my system by eliminating the middle man (me) and just pouring the drink down the toilet! =)=)=)
