OT - September coast of Maine recommendations?

Pemaquid Point is amazing

1) Get some Allagash beer - especially the Curieux.  They have a beer locator on their website to help you find specific beers.
2) Do the Mr. Rockefeller Bridge Tour on the Carriage Roads of Acadia National Park.  We did the hiking tour (not strenuous - more of a "walk" than a "hike") but I think there is an actual carriage tour as well.
3) Get some Allagash beer.  Their Tripel is outstanding.  And definitely find the Curieux.
4) We took a sightseeing boat out of Bar Harbor that was very educational and saw some great sites.
5) Did I mention Allagash beer?

I do have to admit that I have a weakness for Belgian style beers.  It may not be your cup of tea.

IMHO, Maine Beer Company is as good or better than Allagash, their brewery and tasting room in on Rt 1 in Freeport, a little south of Bean's.

Sunrise on Cadillac is a must - I'm pretty sure you legally can't graduate from high school within 60 miles of Acadia without doing that at least once your senior year, I know my entire class did it.  The carriage roads are great as well.  Try to get over to Schoodic Point when you're staying in Bar Harbor - it is a relatively new part of Acadia NP that's on the mainland and is gorgeous.

Your best food options will be in Portland - Central Provisions is great, as are Eventide (oysters), and you need to get to Duckfat, even if it is just for poutine and the original milkshake.  

North of there, check to see if Primo in Rockland has availability the night you're in Camden.  It is one of the best meals I've had, it's probably superior to any of the options in Portland, but mid-coast doesn't have the same variety.  If you do get a reservation at Primo, get there early so you can walk through the gardens that produced some of the menu items, and visit the chickens and (maybe, it'll fairly late in the season) the pigs that will be future meals.

Towards Bar Harbor there are even fewer options, most of the places in town are tourist traps.  Galyns does a really good lobster bisque, and the ready of their seafood is pretty solid.  The Trenton Bridge Lobster Pound is right before you drive over the bridge to Mount Desert Island, and they do the lobster right, you can pick your own and then they boil in seawater.

If you're a history buff bring your passport so you can go over to Campobello when you're in Lubec.  It was FDR and Eleanor's summer getaway, and the guides there are really good.  You also need to go to West Quoddy Head Lighthouse; it is as far east as you can get in the US.
