Burgers and Asparagus

Made burgers a little different way today.  I weighed all to be right around 1/3 lb.  or 5.33 oz.
Then I smashed 'em down between two pieces of parchment paper.  Not quite smash burgers to the Blackstoners on here. I ususally just do some SnO on burgers, but this time I used one of the runs from @tspud1 from the recent exchange. Very nice change! Then, they went on the 400F XL for a few (4:30) minutes, flipped, then on for another few minutes.
These were great.  I served w some grilled asparagus.

Will it?  I wonder how often that happens?  Someone should start a thread asking the forum members how many can smell the asparagus smell in their weewee!

Looks good.  I can smell your pee from here.  Pee normally smells really boring, I find asparagus livens things up.   Learned this in a hotel in Moscow last year.  Keep it up, and keep cooking!

@thetrim the digestive system breaks down food into smaller, constituent compounds. Asparagus has one called mercaptan, and when this decomposes one of the by-products released is methanethiol. It is believed that this causes the strange smell.

Mercaptan is also found in rotten eggs and garlic, and has a sulphurous aroma.

Hope this doesn't put you off cooking asparagus again, that all looks lovely. :D

I have to say even w the foul smell and said discussion getting run by the Buffalo, I still think asparagus is my favorite grilled vegetable.
