OT - question about foodsaver

So I finally opened the foodsaver I bought a year ago. It's the basic model.
I have heard if you get liquid into the suction motor you'll kill it?
I notice there is a drip tray, so I assume some amount of moisture is acceptable to get in there? I notice the orifice where the air goes into is an elevated part above the drip tray. So I can let liquid get sucked into the drip tray, and as long as it does not overflow to the point that it gets into the orifice, will my motor be okay?

My model is an old and you clearly described mine as well. That catch basin will only hold a tiny amount of liquid. Since I use my FS to package a variety of soups I make I just pour my soup in the FS bag, close with a bag clip and freeze. The next day I seal with the FS - no liquid problem that way. Now if you are just talking about the normal moisture say on meat before sealing - go ahead that's not enough to worry about.

And BTW here's my trick for filling FS bags with liquid soup. Just cut the bottom out of a plastic glass to use as a sleeve. That way you can easily keep the bag open and keep the top walls clean while filling. Then fold over, clamp with a bag clip and freeze. Next day seal with FS!

It's not likely to break, however it does come with the downside of being another large item that needs a place. Outdoor cooking sure takes a lot of indoor space.

So my original question was because I've heard you can speed things up by brining with a vacuum. So the freezer technique won't quiet work....

Fold a paper towel and place in the bag to absorb the liquid. The is a limit of course !

Yeah that wouldn't work with soup ! Lol ! But it works pretty good with meat juices 1Ova B.

Mine has that brining/marinating feature too, but I've never used it.
