I am looking for a recommendation on a disposable gloves for food prep. Are certain gloves better than others or will any latex glove do?

I have used a kallion disposable gloves from SAMS over the years. I forget the price though I know they are CHEAP! I get 1,000 at a time, and never even think of re-using them. The brand is "Daily Chef" and are " high-density latex free polyethylene "one size fits all".Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

I just buy food gloves from the grocery store. They're in with all the latex gloves for cleaning, but are labeled as food gloves so I go with it.Large BGE

You got your answer above.

The nitrile ones are better for handling animal fats, grease etc.

@bgebrent gloves. Latex. Color priority. Stealing them from the hospital. Reusing them. It's like college all over again.bgebrent said:

Edit: Yes, they are the ones above are different thicknesses throughout the glove, these are 6.3 mils everywhere.
These are my go to. They are 6.3 mils thick. Seems thicker than others.

If you use black gloves, you must wear white sunglasses.
If you use purple gloves, you must wear a bright yellow shirt.
If you wear one glove, you need to stay away from propofol.

Any way you roll, your glove should be at least 5 mil thick Nitrile. Never wear latex gloves if you're serving the general public.

Maybe it's been this way for years and I just now saw it...but last Sunday when visiting a friend in the hospital I was surprised to see a large warning sign that read:nolaegghead said:Any way you roll, your glove should be at least 5 mil thick Nitrile. NO LATEX BALLOONS BEYOND THIS POINT
And that sign was near the general admittance door - not any particular floor. Has this latex allergy gotten that widespread and serious? I still have trouble with peanut allergy warnings plastered on everything, but balloons now too???

There are around 3 million latex allergy reactions per year in the US. Very common, affect older people more than younger as the allergy develops with exposure. Google for more info. On the extreme edge of sensitivity, anaphylaxis can occur which is fatal without treatment.Brason said:

I've worked in labs and SWMBO is a nurse and this allergy has pretty much eliminated latex from these fields. It's not that rare. Plus nitrile is superior as a glove, costs marginally more.

I did not know that. Thanksnolaegghead said:

Ron, as I said above, anaphylaxis is not uncommon. I've had it had it feels like you're being water-boarded. You can't breath and feel like you're going to die from suffocation. Epinephrine saved my life a couple of times. Not from latex in my case, but the reaction is the same. Damn PC culture. Right?RRP said:
