Pit Boss Lump

Can I get some feedback from anyone trying Pit Boss Lump?   I'm not seeing a lot of options near me in SoCal other than the low end lump and not willing to chance ruining a good cook over a couple $$$.

If finding lump is an issue and you think Pit Boss Lump might be a good option as far as price and availability, I would try it no matter what the reviews or others opinion might be. So your out $20 if you don't like it. At least you know first hand. Just grill some cheap chicken.

Trying it (or any lump) yourself and seeing if you like it is important.

Lump preferences are pretty subjective and lump discussions can get pretty heated. :)

@Photo Egg Thanks Darian...ordered a bag and one of Louisiana Grills Lump to check it out.   A friend of mine just got an XL so might try and negotiate a better price if we go in on a pallet.

Sounded like it might have been something you found local. Sucks when local options are that poor. Any chance of finding lump at a restaurant supply or larger grocery supply store?
    Thank you,

@HeavyG & @Photo Egg  Will do...only thing I want to heat up is my Egg.  I'll check my local CostCo next time I go.  Thanks for the input...big learning curve, but it's a lot of fun.

Was thinking of a more "commercial/business" store but Costco might have something. But I would run down @tjv suggestion first. Tom knows his stuff.

Got this back from Lazzari...when I checked OSH at first it looked like a bust, but when I clicked on the Mesquite Charcoal it is Lazzari.  Thank you @tjv...I'll pick up a couple of bags and check out to compare with the Pitboss and Louisiana Grill Lump I ordered from the big orange box.

    Sorry to hear that.
Pisses off the people with me at times...but every time I walk into a new grocery store, hardware store etc..., I walk through the bbq/cooking section. Being lucky and networking with friends and relatives can pay off.
    Thank you,

Keep an eye on the Costco Kamado Joe Roadshow schedule - https://www.costco.com/kamado-joe-schedule.html

KJ sells their lump at those shows at an excellent price - $22 for 30lbs. It's really good lump - tho some will disagree cuz the bag is not green. :)

Thanks @HeavyG.  I'll try to make it to one...unfortunately the closest one is about 40 minutes away and the dates aren't conducive to my schedule.  I'll keep checking the list and maybe they'll have one closer someday.  Appreciate the info.

You can always order FOGO.  That's what I've been doing for a while now. I live in SoCal also.

Great to hear from some fellow CA Smokers...better rephrase that...Eggers.  Thanks @lkapigian & @Brason.  I've seen Royal Oak so I'll have to try it, but not familiar with FOGO.  Where do you get that Jason?

@SSQUAL612 fogocharcoal.com free shipping and 35lbs for $50 but you can usually find a $5 off.

Costco Business Center has mesquite lump for cheap as does smart and final. I personally do not like mesquite lump.
