I agree with what's been said from most of you. The warranty warrants notation and dealer service. Furthermore, the price tag is much easier to swallow when you understand that the egg is a piece of equipment that has been build to last a lifetime (often multiple generations) as most of you all know. This is not a piece of stamped steel that will degrade after three years.Pratt, KS

The Egg pays for itself quickly once you start substituting trips to your local high end steakhouse with a home cooked one.

And with BBQ. For what you pay for a mediocre pulled pork sandwich in some places, you can almost buy a whole butt to make at home. I remember being somewhere and whoever I was with ordered a $9.95 pulled pork sandwich--it was a huge Kaiser bun with about an ice cream scoop sized ball of pork on it. They made about 1000% markup on that one.
I'll always make 2-3 butts at a time depending on the size. Usually works out to 20-25# which cooks down to 12-15#. I always give some of it away to friends around town, then still have enough to feed a family of 6 for several days. BBQ sandwiches a few times, then carnitas, lettuce wraps, etc. All for a total investment of $30 of meat......even less if it's on super sale. Usually about $1.30/# for bone-in at RD, or $1.70/# at Costco.

I get so much enjoyment out of my newfound cooking hobby that i couldnt put a price tag on it. Would a kj or other ceramic grill provide me with the same level of enjoyment? Maybe. Maybe not
