Where do you store the ceramic plate setter

I would say no, you don't want it getting wet. a wet PS in a hot egg would not be good. We will see if others agree...Northern New Jersey

Honestly, I think the PS is probably more resilient than you think. I would be wary of sticking a cold, possibly damp plate setter into a HOT egg, but bringing it up to temp gradually should be fine.
That being said, I have a deck box that I use to store my charcoal and smoking woods. I keep most of my accessories in there. So, I practice safety, but acknowledge that its likely not necessary.
my two cents, anyways

I think there is enough pork butt juice on mine to make it pretty water resistant. It get stored where it lands...... usually on top of a couple of firebricks on top of a concrete paver table.

Mine is either in the Woo inside my egg or on my table shelf... never had an issue. I keep mine in the Egg as well. If your egg is in a nest and covered, could you possibly store it on the crosslegs of the nest, by the wheels?Steve

Here and there. I use it infrequently and always have to stop and think, 'hmmm, where did I put it?'

I don't think the thermal shock issue is much of an issue. stike uses ice water from his cooler to cool his egg so he can pack it up after a tailgate. Someone, might have been @Little Steven, said he tossed his hot PS in a snowbank. Then again, he might have been jerkin' my chain. I have taken an ambient temp pizza stone (one of those 8" ones from Amazon) and placed it directly on a 900° BGE pizza stone. Neither broke.
ymmvI hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I don't preheat my firebox or egg either. Mine sits outside all year round. It will sink the temp a bit more in the winter initially, but that's all.

This is a good spot

If it was used in my last cook then it is cleaned and left in the egg. I f I used the AR or another setup without the PS then it is in the deck box sitting on my pool deck.
My normal work flow is to shut the egg down and let it cool. Once it has cooled down some I scrape the grate with a ball of aluminum foil then move my egg onto my covered porch. Next morning I remove the drip pan and toss it, remove the aluminum foil its wrapped in and toss that. Then I reset the components in the egg for storage.Marshall in Beautiful Fruit Cove, FL.

I keep mine in a deck box when not using it. If I do an indirect cook, I just leave it in the Egg when I shut it down and it is ready to go for the next cook if it is also indirect; if not I put it back in the deck box until the next time I need it.
I have 2 of the Grate Racks mentioned. I use one of those to store my home-made raised grid (Weber) and the other one to rest the stock cooking grid while adding charcoal and lighting the Egg. My first inclination was to store the platesetter in one, but I decided against that.Greenwood, IN | XL BGE | Weber Genesis | Blackstone 28 | bunch of accessories

In the drawer under the egg. I think I used mine 2 or 3 times before it got replaced. Since then, it hasn't left the drawer.

Either in the Egg or leaning against the nest leg. I have more stuff for the Egg now and do need to organise some storage!

Mine goes in my gas grill, which has not been used for more than storage since I brought the egg home.

While i would still love the idea of having a super nice storage table setup thing. I am finding that i use the plate setter so much that it spends a lot more time in the egg than out of the egg. Just wanted to thank everyone for their input.

Up until last week mine sat on a pacer stone on the ground next to my Egg. It's been like that for years. Drove my buddy crazy every time he saw it.
I wouldnt use it wet but it got wet all the time. Definitely not the right answer but it worked.
Now one I have a rack in the garage for everything.

Store it where you want it's very tough................ if it's been rained on it will take a little longer for the temp to get up as the moisture will slow things down. You can put a wet plate setter in a hot egg it will just drop the temp until all the moisture is gone. You can even take a HOT plate setter and hose it down to cool it fast. They don't do well when dropped though. If you want to use it for baking cakes and breads best to keep grease off it.
I'm only hungry when I'm awake!
