Do You 'Grill' or 'Cook Outside'?

I still say grilled for burgers or hot dogs and things that I could cook on any grill, but after my wife started telling people about our grilled pizzas, I use the term egged a lot more. A grilled pizza just seems like something entirely different than what I make in the egg where I basically turn the egg into a pizza oven.RRP said:I'm surprised no one has mentioned the term I use - "I egg" it just rolls right off my tongue - either I will cook inside on the stove or occasionally use the oven, but when I'm outside I either say I'm going "to egg" or "I'll egg" that.Large BGE

I cook outside way more than inside. It's hot pretty much year round here, and there's no point in heating up the house with an oven. I also have a tiki hut that houses a commercial grade gasser and accompanying gas stovetop that I use for lots of things like blackening fish or cooking mushrooms and onions for steaks. I occasionally even use the gasser. The tiki hut also houses a couple small electric fryers that I use. I went to Texas a couple times to fish in tournaments in the early 2000's, and the boys there all set me straight on BBQ vs grilling (or so they thought). They basically said that grilling is cooking hot and fast on an open flame, while BBQing involves low and slow indirect cooking. Invited about a half dozen Texans to my house for a "BBQ" when the tournament series came through my area in FL, and I cooked country style ribs, corn and potatoes on my Weber (pre-egg) for them. They all said I had a funny way of cooking the ribs (grilling), and that they usually BBQ country ribs. When we finished eating, they all commented how good the ribs were, even though they were "grilled". Whatever.Large BGE and MiniMax in St. Petersburg, FL

We tend to just cook outside often. We have a nice outdoor cooking area and the weather is usually nice. Cooking outside for me is a bit of a lifestyle choice. I like to cook with wood and charcoal as a choice. I like to play with fire and interact with the food I'm cooking. When the weather is bad or I'm in a hurry I cook indoors.
I will say that cooking on the BGE using charcoal and cooking with wood has required me to grow and gain new skills as a cook. In fact that's often the struggle I see with newbies that have trouble. They are often in a place where they are learning new skills as a cook and at the same time learning how to manage a new cooking device - the egg. I hope that wasn't too much of a tangent.
Back to the point; I cook outside. Often.Coleman, Texas
Large BGE & Mini Max for the wok. A few old camp Dutch ovens and a wood fired oven. LSG 24” cabinet offset smoker. There are a few paella pans and a Patagonia cross in the barn. A curing chamber for bacterial transformation of meats...
"Bourbon slushies. Sure you can cook on the BGE without them, but why would you?"

I cook outside every chance I get. My grilling patio is covered and has an exhaust fan for the smoke, so weather (unless it's REALLY bad) is not an issue.
Between my Egg and my smoker, I stay busy in my Q Shack.

Outside. As often as possible. Got another 5 inches of the white sh!t today...got a steak marinating for dinner. I did prep the medium last night tho so once it's lit and stable maybe 15 minutes out there. If it can't BE Spring then I'll pretend it is. I even made potato salad lol....

@fishlessman
please explain more on: "sharp cheddar in strips frozen ready to be grated inthe food processor". I hand grate the blocks from Costco and not fun for fridge storage.
ThanksSalado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.
