Oh Egg! how great you are

I have been using my Large Egg for 5 months now. I have made almost everything (not brisket yet, but several large butts) and can say, without shame, that prior to my egg, I did not know what great food was!
I live in NY, and recently went to North Carolina for a vist with family. My wife and I discussed looking for barbecue down there, but both realized there was no point to it since nothing could rise to the level already experienced at home on the egg. So, we waited to get home to do another butt.

alot of vinegar in the sauce. Not a real fan of the sauce.

newegger art,
This is coming to you from a 30 year resident of NC.[p]You missed the chance of a lifetime. In NC barbeque is a noun not a verb. I've had "pulled pork" from the BGE but until it is seasoned correctly, it is just shredded pork roast.[p]Just my $0.02 worth.

Morro Bay Rich,
I'll bet my comment will bring the Eggers our of their shell. :-o)

Morro Bay Rich,
Well, I have a truly awesome dry rub which I make after much research, trial and error that will match the best of them, and a KC style sauce that I also make for dipping after serving. I use apple wood and hickory and all I can say is that it is barbecue heaven. I have had NC barbecue in prior trips there, but have not had it as good as what I make.

newegger art,[p] Well in that case I will invite you to come to NC and get Eastern NC BBQ done right. Next time you are down this way do look me up..[p]

I grew up in Danbury, though it's been a bunch of years since I lived there. Glad to hear egging is in the area.
And as far as CelticWolf's recommendation, I'd certainly take him up if I were visiting there. -
Celtic Wolf,
Coming down to Duck, NC next week. Can't get much more East than that. Are you close to the outer banks?
-
JohnF,[p] Nope. I am north of Raleigh
