In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself. -

I like it! Before I lay down $46, does anyone have any guesses on how this will vary from other lump we use? (flavor, mainly)
Last time I was in Puerto Rico I'd pass all these good kiosks cooking over natural charcoal that didn't smell like what we had back here, until I tried Fogo. Smelled just like that. (normal Fogo, not this Cuban stuff)

Back in the day it used to be $1 per pound off of Amazon.ca. That and Quebracho, and Kebroak. Looks like those days are long gone.
Its a very mild flavor, I loved it. It burned hot, or so it seemed to me, and seemed to last along time as well.

Yes this stuff is the charcoal coming out of Cuba. The one you have on Amazon is from South America
