What time? Just outside of Charlotte is Kyle Fletcher's, good BBQ, cash only, close at 8:00 though. Address: 4507 Wilkinson Blvd, Gastonia, NC 28056

Mac's Speedshop. Location near Lake Norman and downtown Charlotte. Cool place and great BBQ

I know I am late but as @1wvu said, Macs is awesome. We have one here in Greensboro and been to the one in Fayetteville. Always good. Jim and Nicks at the Concord exit is ridiculous as all get out even though not a local dive.

Mac's is good but their brisket is very different from what you'll find elsewhere. It's not for everyone.

Haven't tried their brisket yet. Was on my list the next time I visit. Will be interested to see the difference

If you are near 521 in Charlotte which goes from the Ballantyne area of Charlotte to Fort Mill, SC there are several. Traveling down 521 for even 15 minutes you'll hit Midwood Smokehouse, Queen City Q, City BBQ, Jim and Nicks, and 521 BBQ.

Thanks for all the feedback
well here's the story. Arrived around 5 and had to wait for my nephew and is incredible 6 yr old. We let the 6 yr old pick and went to bang bang burger. Food was good but the time spent together was priceless. I only get to see them once every 2 yrs or so. I had the best time just talking and laughing. Will keep these places saved for my next trip this year and will try them.
