I will do it if it required but I am worried about realigning issues

No, there's no reason to do so.LBGE (still waitin' for my free T-Shirt), DIgiQ DX2 (In Blue, cause it's the fastest), Heavy Duty Kick Ash Basket, Mc Farland, WI.

If it wasn't for my BGE I'd have no use for my backyard... -
No it's not. But you'll likely have to loosen it and reset the seal afterward. Calling @RRPSlumming it in Aiken, SC.

No, but some find it easier to apply in a uniform thickness and following the curvature of the base.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

Ron's instructions are easy to follow. I've done 3 now. All have gone on the base - never tried to apply to the dome.Phoenix -

Here's a fine example of what I meant about "a uniform thickness and following the curvature".RRP said:No, but some find it easier to apply in a uniform thickness and following the curvature of the base.

Then there is the option of not replacing the gasket. I haven't had a gasket on mine for years.

This is option one if it works for you.gerhardk said:Then there is the option of not replacing the gasket. I haven't had a gasket on mine for years.

Not much of a gasket left on this one, but it still cooks fine.gerhardk said:Then there is the option of not replacing the gasket. I haven't had a gasket on mine for years.

Runnin nekkid. My L looks the same. Have Ron's Rutlands in reserve. Don't know that I'll need them.DMW said:

One Large has not had a gasket in over 7 years and the Mini has not had one in over 5 years. See no reason.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Just given a Mini to add to the herd.

I've probably put on 4 or 5 Rutland gaskets on the bottom only over the years. Haven't missed a meal yet, even if a little smoke leaks out here and there. Not that I've noticed that, but my motto is "If you don't mind, it doesn't matter."Judy in San Diego

just get with @RRP
Hardest thing about the process was driving to Wal-Mart to get the high temp sealer...
install is super easy and @RRP 's buying process is great..

Love my Rutland, from @RRP, installed without removing the lid, not a problem (you just have to reach back a bit).

I scraped and sanded both rims to cleanness while snug in the bands. Application is silly easy. Just do it.Best - Jack

Not required, I've done 3 now, just follow Ron's instructions and you'll be fineNashville, TN

Just finished. Was quite easy but I have quite a bit of orange gasket showing. Is that normal? Will it fade to black as I cook?
-
it will get dirty and darken in time, but that also means it will harden and with "quite a bit" you may lose the cushioning affect of the gasket.Gravytrain84 said:Just finished. That pic looks good... the few other times I've changed mine out that's exactly as it looks, goes away over timeNashville, TN

The unraveled ends are driving me nuts but it was the best I can do. I'm pretty sure itll be air tight

If I were you I would carefully fill that gap with some of the Permatex you should have left over.Gravytrain84 said:The unraveled ends are driving me nuts but it was the best I can do. I'm pretty sure itll be air tight
BTW glad you posted the picture as the amount of Permatex on your gasket should not a be a problem - I thought you meant excessive!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time -

Sounds good! I guess I was comparing my application to the last one I saw posted which was damn near perfect. Lol I will light up tomorrow and look for leaks. If that rear section leaks, I will fill with da orange.RRP said:

It it is recommended to wait 24 hr, right? -
Yes 24 hours - the Permatex hardens to the touch within 1 hour, but needs 24 hours to finish. It cures by a chemical reaction and heat does not speed it along.Gravytrain84 said:
