OT - NIB Boos end grain warped Boos CS response
Comments

I've got a Boos block. I used it a couple of times. Never really cared for it so I oiled it and stuck it in a cupboard. It's not an end grain but it's still straight and flat after 20 years and very little use. It does have a small crack where it's separating.Aledo, Texas

Should work well for spiral cuts.Ozzie_Isaac said:
Try cutting on a board that spins like a top. All I wanted was a flat board, or at least one I could put on a towel to stop it from rocking and spinning. Seems reasonable to me.nolaegghead said:Customer is always right

Returned the board for a replacement. Second board is perfectly flat. Beautiful board. Learned my lesson. Much easier to just deal with the retailer. Hope I never have cause to deal with Boos again.
My friend was super cool about it.
Felt bad having them hassle with it, but in the end it turned out good.
I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

Glad it worked out. Now, go to Ace hardware and buy a 4-pack of rubber feet. Non slip, non adhesive and makes the board easily reversible. Also keeps the board off of a wet counter. $4.59. Wish I had thought of it sooner.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I've been following this thread. Kinda crappy the way it played out but glad you were able to get resolve after all said and done. Enjoy!

Or wait until your dad moves out there to AZ with you and swipe his bench cookies! In case you don't recognize what I'm talking about here's a picture of higher end ones - but trust me - these babies won't move!Ozzie_Isaac said:

I agree, really disappointed with Boos. If they had said up front "try this, if it doesn't work we will take care of you" it would have been a non-issue.chuckytheegghead said:I've been following this thread. Instead saying "warping isn't covered, try this, and it may get better" on a brand new still in the plastic wrap board is bogus. I will not recommend their boards unless you get them from a retailer who stands behind what they sell. Boos doesn't stand behind their own product. The retailer resolved this situation.I would rather light a candle than curse your darkness.

At first, I though the CSR somehow didn't realize this was brand new. However, it is clear they did know and still asked you to fix their problem. Very poor form on their part. Two Large Eggs, 6 gal Cajun Fryer, and a MiniMax in Charlotte, NC - My New Table

I sent them this thread. After reading this they said they would help if it wouldn't straighten out with their oil and saran wrap suggestion.tarheelmatt said:Air this out on twitter and tag them, this will be taken care of.
Sad companies respond to being "outed" as having poor CS instead of just being sold companies.
(I've posted all correspondence in earlier posts. I want people to be able to draw their own conclusions on whether Boos was fair or not. So...booos for Boos then!
Instead of screwing rubber feet on a cutting board I use these:

I have a half dozen of these in a kitchen drawer by the stove and they also work great to keep stuff from sliding around.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -
I do similar. Silpat.

Anybody looking for a board, go with The Boardsmith. I have a mahogany board that is about 6 years old and is still perfect, but i have also done the necessary maintenance! So Sorry to read about the bad Boos experience.

Agreed, but the point is that one shouldn't have to resort to being outed on social media in order to get a company to do the right thing. That said, I use that tactic frequently since it appears to be the only thing that works nowadays. Nobody wants bad PR.tarheelmatt said:

Nope. I had an incident with Cutco knives at Costco. Sent them a message on Twitter. Got a free knife and and a card thanking me for feedback.HofstraJet said:

How a company handles issues is everything. Hell I've warrantied crap I know we didn't even fix to begin with just for the good PR it brings. And it's paid off ten fold. They should have sent you a damn board no questions asked. Your thread would have been totally different and I bet several of us would have bought a board just from that thread.Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

I used to try to make sure the Boos logo was in my food pics too. Took pride in having a nice board ... may just turn it around from now on. Petty I know, but it will make me feel better.Jeremiah said:How a company handles issues is everything. In this day and age with so many options easily accessible, I am mindful of anything that will remove a product as an option. Top of the list is customer service. Likely never would have purchased a Boos board but guarantee I won't now.
Remove another BGE Forum enticement from the list. I thank you @Ozzie_Isaac. FWIW-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. CHEETO (aka Agent Orange) makes Nixon look like a saint. -
And yet another black eye for commerce in the state of Illinois. BTW I have a second from the BOOS outlet store in Effingham. Though mine is not end grain maple it is a beautiful walnut board. Even as a wood worker myself I have never found what imperfection made it a second! Mine is now 7 or 8 years old and it will be a hand-me-down to one of my heirs.Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time
