I purchased several boxes of these Safety Lite Fire starter squares at the local Tractor Supply. The box says they are safe to use for charcoal grills. However, I'm reluctant to use them in my Egg. Comments

They are hard to beat. -
I use them also. I'm pretty sure they are the same ones that BGE rebrands and sells

Couldn't hurt I suppose. I wonder why, if they are volatile, they didn't wrap them to extend the shelf life?

Every time we make bacon,(which is quite often!) I soak up the excess grease with paper towel, and freeze them in a ziplock! Works great!!

I still have the small box of BGE ones that came with my egg. They sit in the egg table drawer outside. Been there for 1.5 years. Decided to try to use one today. I usually break one apart and light the lump in 2 places. It still worked great. Little easier and less messy that the oiled paper towel. Wish I had gotten that $5 deal for the Rutlands.Aledo, Texas
