I did something stupid

Tried to have a great nice with my lady friend. Bought prime beef tenderloin and a bottle of balvine Doublewood. When I got home I picked up the Balvive and it slipped out of the holder. I cleaned the the glass off the driveway  and all I could smell was good scotch. The steaks and shrimp came out fantastic. I'll go buy another bottle tomorrow.

@Ozzie_Isaac. I cleaned up the glass and had several glasses of Eagle Rare and my disposition became much better. Some of the best beef I have ever done on the egg! I can always go buy another bottle tomorrow.

The key here is redundancy.   Buy more alcohol!
Edit:  Your beef looks great.  I hope your lady friend appreciates good food.

There's something about the USDA Prime logo that gets me every time.   Great looking meal.  Sorry about the bottle.

Nice meal. And sorry about the tragedy.

A friend had given me a great bottle of scotch. Walking back to my car, it slipped out of the box (because I had not closed the flap on the top properly) and then watched as it hit the deck and shattered. I almost passed out in shock and grief.

Have you tried any of the balvenie cask finishes?

That is some really good looking beef right there. The char / sear if top shelf. Anything special or was it a straight forward high heat sear over the cooking grid? Phenomenal!

    Great-looking cook!
I've only dropped one bottle of booze, in the cement stairwell of my college dorm.  The good news, it was very cheap.  The bad news, it was peppermint schnapps, and that smell is VERY strong and lasted until January!

No amount of Eagle Rare could have quenched the pain had it been my Scotch!  Grillings would have had a certain "tear" taste to them!

Thanks for looking. Told myself there's always more booze to buy and drink. Used butter and a cast iron skillet on the egg to get the crust. Rotated every 30 seconds till the crust formed.
  • Very fine meal right there!

As long as the meal ended with the intended result, then all is well.  If it didn't, then I mourn for your loss of scotch.

    Nice looking meal btw.

The Caribbean Cask is really, really good.  I think it's a 14 year.  I don't think Balvenie sells a bad bottle.

The title of this thread is something I write almost every day in my journal.

Good looking steak and shrimp - one of my favorite combos.
