Kitchen supply street in Tokyo

I  had the chance to do some shopping in Tokyo.. Do I get things for the wife and kids?. Well, yes if the like grills and Hibiki!

Kappabashi, kitchen street, has  everything.  Multi block area full of everything, chairs, grills, glassware, menu printing services, plastic food replicas, used restaurant gear, and of course cookware like crazy.

I came for a small tabletop ceramic grill to use for Korean BBQ.  The store I found had everything wood or  charcoal fired. Took a picture of the small grills.  I got the one top left, $66.  Got a good thick SS mesh for  $12.   This was a good one, but they went all the way to $300.

Sorry about order.. I think it post them randomly when you select multiple.

picture of yakitori in action! Cheap and awesome dinner

Yes, that is gluten free lump down on the right there too!

I brought back numerous things for the kitchen when I was spending time over in Japan.  The quality of the items were extremely high and wish I  was headed back to bring another stash.  That looks to be a very nice BBQ setup  you sent back.  Enjoy with your favorite sake or sochu when you fire it up....Me I'm a Asahi fan!!

Well, if you can't make it back to Japan you can find a lot of that kitchenware stuff on Korin's website.

They even sell those small tabletop grills for a good price - http://korin.com/KON-43803711_2?sc=56&category=20227123

The area is called kappabashi, West of ueno. It's in the tour  books too.  Get to Ueno, then take the Ginza line three stops east to Asakusa. Easy walk from there.

The exact address I went to for this grill is..

    Kamasa shop food dish 707 - TEL: 03 - 3841 - 9355 Matsugatani 2 - 24 - 1 in Taito - ku, Tokyo

At least that's what is on the receipt!. Here is a dropped Google pin..

The North South street this shop is on is the main shopping drag.  It's utilitarian, this isn't like visiting Shibuya!

After talking to my friends, this  area is known for good kitchen knives.  I saw a ton, but I'm simple on that topic. I think the famous store is one store south of the pin.

    Good luck and have fun..

@sumoconnell--thanks much.  We go regularly in the spring and would love to check it out.  I have gotten some great cooking gadgets over there at Tsukiji market and in Kyoto and these look great!  Knives amazing (pix are from Aritsugu in Kyoto) featuring my fave ginger/garlic graters.  And i have a couple of boxes of  binchotan charcoal.  Thx for this!
