I don't get the appeal of these things.  I'm sure it's great when cooking for a big crowd, but breakfast for just me and wife?  You mean I have to put on pants and go out into the cold just to cook?  Eh...

Wal Mart is even better deal if you want the cover as well. $239.10 with cover.
Same price as Amazon if you don't need cover.

We need to replace our old gasser...this would work great! But no grid, only a flat top surface? How does that work for everyone? I am used to grids...thoughts?
Not to try to talk you out of the Blackstone (which I am sure is a fine product) but to get a grill surface for it is extra as someone else mentioned. I think it runs about $100  or thereabouts. As an alternative, there is the Camp Chef Flat Top which is only slightly smaller in griddle surface but comes with grill grates so you do not have to buy them extra. The CC also has individually igniting burners and the igniters do not require a battery. Just something you may want to consider. I have the CC and griddle cooking is great.

Thanks-let me look into that. I want both options if possible.

When I first got mine, I thought it would be overkill, since it's just me and my daughter.  And it may be overkill, but I can tell you I use every inch of that griddle.  When you cook on it, you set it up in 4 different heat zones, and move food around as needed so everything finishes at the same time.  I could never go back to the confines of a stovetop skillet.

That's pretty much where I am with mine.  It's great when it's hot outside, but it gets almost zero use in the winter time.  I might cook fajitas on it two or three times during the winter months.

For me personally, it's also about the clean up. I find myself cooking a lot more selections of food for one meal since ultimately. I only have the grill to clean up!!!
Just bought an Egg?  Here is what you get to look forward to now:

Plate Setter, FlameBoss 200, Spider, PSWOO-CI, Additional Rig Shelf for dome cooking, Thermapen, iGrill2, Cast Iron, Blackstone, Cooking Accessories for the Blackstone, Cover for the Egg and the Blackstone, shopping for Rub like a fine wine or IPA, and a new fascination with lump and what brand is the best-all to be debated every Friday Night.  Next desires-Joetisceriie, Adjustable Rig, Grillmates, table and more eggs

If it's of any help, here is a video of a comparison that I found very helpful. Honestly, it's what convinced me to go with the Camp Chef. But again, I have no doubt the Blackstone is a heck of a cooker and I have no reason to think you would be dissatisfied with one. In the video he mentions shelf height. I will tell you that things on my Camp Chef side shelves get pretty dang toasty, pretty dang quick. I think I would like the lower shelves like the Blackstone has although I have no idea how much, if any, better they are.

Brother Grim has both.  If I remember correctly, the Camp Chef was better for portability, but he gave the nod to the Blackstone for stationary use.
