Thermopops?

Thermoworks has a sale on thermopops with a discount for buying five. I have 5 adult nieces and nephews. 4 have grills and smokers but the fifth doesn't have a permanent job and home just yet. She does cook. Would it be worth it for her?

Is the main difference b/t the thermopop and the thermopen the folding feature?

Thermoworks website says 2-3 seconds on the thermopen, 5 seconds on the thermopop. That works for me for the price difference. I had my wife order me one for Christmas.

Have heard good things about the ThermoPops, a good cooking thermometer is always an excellent gift.
The RT600C, not so much. Two years ago I went the same route you are contemplating, picked up 5 RT600C at a good price for Xmas gifts. All 5 are now toast, including my own which was used about 10 times.
My Thermapen is working fine, other than it is sometimes hard to wake up, good luck with the ThermoPops.

When I first received my Thermopop as a gift, I couldn't have cared less. I had no interest, as I didn't know how valuable it was to be able to get a quick read on internal temp. Now, it is without a doubt my most valued accessory. I remain forever grateful that the gifter had the profound wisdom to bestow this seemingly-magical item upon me. Be that gifter.

I have two Thermapens. I keep 3 or 4 Thermopops from when they are on sale. When relatives come over for dinner or the weekend, they'll see me use the thermapen and then later are amazed the meat turned out perfect. So they start asking questions and I eventually just hand them a thermopop and say, " Happy Birthday" or "Merry Christmas." I also take one when I help cook at someone else's house. If is disappears, it's not a huge loss like a thermapen would be.

My brother in law made tri tip for us when we visited him, I watched him struggle to read the meat temperature with a non back lit probe. I ordered him a thermapop before we were home for his Christmas present. I have a pop and have used it for a good 2-3 years with no issues.
