Come on Fedex!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Took advantage of the Thermapen MK4, DOT and a high temp pit probe from Thermaworks for their Black Friday sales. Also bought a multi colored thermometer from Smokeware. All my goodies will be here tomorrow :)

  • Thanks! Really hope the 2-3 second read time Thermoworks claim is accurate.

Ive had a thermo from Bed Bath Beyond for last 3 years, and it takes me about 15 seconds to get a max temp reading

  • I bought five thermopops for $24 each. They are gifts so standard UPS shipping is quick enough.

2-3 seconds is BS. It's more like 5.

My first Thermapen, 15 years old or so, is still going strong.  Have since added another gen 2 TP non backlit, a Chef Alarm, and Timestick.  All GREAT products.  I have replaced the battery in my original red pen once, if I recall.  My Maverick ET-73 and Digi Q II has since bit the dust.  Can't go wrong with anything in the TW lineup.

  • ^^^  that's awesome!

A little birdie told me that Thermapen "might" be coming out with a device similar to the Digiq DX2 and FlameBoss...  That would be some high tech sh*t right there!

Hope the five letter shipper comes thru as promised.  I am partial to the three letter (cryptic here to evade the buffalo) carrier in terms of on-time service and  product placement upon delivery.  And yes I have spoken with the normal drivers and the respective local office.   Regardless, enjoy the end products.

    3 letter carrier = UPS.
    5 letter carrier = FedEx.
The Buffalo doesn't like certain names. As such, he referred to them as letter carriers preceded by a number.
    I think :s

  • Ehh, who cares what he thinks.. Its too complicated anyways. Better to call them by their name :)

I just took a guess at the above. I could be off by miles. It sounds reasonable though. Not sure why the buffalo hates UPS. But he is funny that way.

And these days, you have to worry about some jack wagon walking on your porch and stealing your items regardless of the carrier.

@SGH guessed right.  I have had a couple of threads buffaloed when I went with the shipping company names.  Just expressing an opinion here.
Regarding placement, I do have an area near my garage that is not visible from the street.  it's the 3 letter landing area.  The five letter guy always goes to the front door (and that's an extra 60-70ft walk).  My shipping volume is definitely not enough to cause a behavior change.

  • The 3 letter guys sometimes deliver my stuff and sometimes just mark me as not being home even though I am and I have to go to the 3 letter store to pick up my package. It 4letterstartingwithp me offf. They also use the post office for the last mile and that takes longer. They delivered my wife's package to the post office 3 days ago so it's been sitting in town and still not delivered.

    was that criptic enough?

Ironic this thread popped up this week.  FedEx drove from Philly to Ohio to drop my order off near Pittsburgh.

WTF, literally drove past my house.  I get it, Ohio is a major sorting hub, but just seems like wasted fuel.  I guess it was on a truck for other packages headed to the Midwest.

    Oh well...
