Prime Rib for Thanksgiving
YukonRon
Posts: 17,261
Bought two "bone in" Prime Ribs (4 bone cuts).
Prepped with my rub, and some chopped green onion. The plan is 250F, indirect, cooking grate at felt level, smoking with cherry. Then hard sear at 500F. Hoping this works out.
My Beautiful Wife and I wish a Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. We Love you guys.

Looks great Ron. FYI, you might not need the sear at the end, the crust might brown up nicely on it's own.They/Them

That is so true. I was going to do it for presentation only, should it be needed. Great insight, and thank you for watching out for me, my brother. Hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful.DMW said:Looks great Ron. FYI, you might not need the sear at the end, the crust might brown up nicely on it's own."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

Two pretty good sized chunks of beef, takes a bit longer to do, especially in this frigid 48F weather we have here.StillH2OEgger said:Eagerly waiting to see the fruits of your labor as well. Looks like you're off to a great start."Knowledge is Good" - Emil Faber

I'll never come close to this greatness. That meat is top notch and I know less than zero about wine. Must not allow spouse onto forum...

Did you notice the near empty bottle of Evan Williams in the back ground? That was the bottle we sous vide with the vanilla beans.theyolksonyou said:I'll never come close to this greatness. That meat is top notch and I know less than zero about wine. Must not allow spouse onto forum...

Well considering I learn from folks like you, it should be epic. I posted the wine pic, my faves, Southern Rhone blends.....(WS gave it a 94, I would have thought 98 at least.) Great with the heavy crust, spicy beef.bgebrent said:Looking forward to the finale! Should be epic. Include your wine pairing please.
