canned salmon

dont know much about it other than it was fresh caught in alaska. any safe recipes, salmon burgers on the blackstone?

    I received some mason jar canned salmon from a friend from Alaska a few months ago.  Apparently putting a label or date on the jar is too much work. ;)  It was still under a vacuum, so I ate it.  It's a meal in a jar. I suppose you could throw it over some rice or in a taco.

    I am told this is a very common way of preserving salmon in Alaska.  IMHO, curing and cold smoking is a superior technique.

    at least theres a 16 on the top =) no idea what type of salmon though.  gonna taste it straight up but it looks like a burger or deep fry croquette to me. maybe we have to make it all about the sauce ;) was yours just water and oil from the salmon, this looks like just water

    Mine was water and oil.  It was obviously cooked to death for the canning process.
