An orbital sander with 100+ grit works wonders too. -

I strongly suggest not using a sanding disk as it can be too aggressive and destroy the square ceramic edge. Instead I suggest one of these soft wheels or at least a knock off. Also a pumice stone makes final clean up a breeze.

Do you think a sander like this using a fine grit will knock off the square edge?RRP said:I strongly suggest not using a sanding disk as it can be too aggressive and destroy the square ceramic edge. Your planes are out of whack.
Then depending on which do this. For instance if the back is sitting down leaving the front open...
Place 1 or more quarters on the gasket edge at the back and close your dome. Then loosen your band and press down hard. That should raise the rear a bit, but tilt the front of your dome downward. Tighten bolts, then remove the quarters. Since the gasket will absorb some of that thickness when compressed you might want to start with at least 2 quarters or even 3.

It could if your are real careful - but one of those wheels I pictured above costs about $7 dollars and chucks into a 1/4" drill and in spite of it looking rough and tough it isn't going to wear down your ceramic edge.SemolinaPilchard said:
