My pork belly has nipples.

So my slab of pork belly came with nipples.  I could have left it alone, but decided to slice it off.

I've heard the nips give an off flavor. I always just take them off when I remove the skin.

Batter and deep fry those nipples. No joke, it's a real treat.

    Myth

besides. You spend every waking moment looking for the damn things. And then you throw them away when you finally catch up to some?

Not only do I cut off the nips, I generally chunk the skin too! I'm not a fan of cracklins or pork rinds really and haven't found another use for just the skin.

Had a sophomoric response all planned decided against it -  it's pork belly that's where pork nips are...on the belly. Butcher's like chaching..more weight = higher cost. @SGH had a good idea!

I will deep fry just about anything. Nipples included. They are basically just fat. Just be sure that it's nips are from a female. People might get the wrong impression if you are eating nips from a male :o

In all honesty they taste the same. Why? By far and large most commercial pork comes from a gilt (female that has not given birth) or from a castrated male. As such, the naval nor breasts glands are active. As such, the tissue at time of slaughter is mostly fat. Nipples from a sow (female that has given birth) will be slightly different than a gilt or castarated male. However the taste remains the same.

Interesting, and someday I'm going to come across really creepy at a party when I try and repeat it.
