If people use these instead of brushes, I'd agree that is a good thing.

It's just a smh thing that a scrap of wood is marketed as an expensive product.

I hope some of those on here who have dealt with the digestive system extract of the wayward bristle will be along. One member even has X-ray pics. I would not dismiss the issue given the alternatives. FWIW-

I I use the woody paddle. It kind of makes me laugh being a mini oar but it works and I think it looks cool lol.

I use this style, can pick them up at Walmart for less than a dollar. The spiral wire is much heavier duty than bristle brushes. Only wish the handles were longer.

I do it twice, first with my good old wire brush, that I really just think does the best job, and then second with a scrubby thing from BGE that doesn't have the hard wires, figuring it'd get rid of any if some were left by the "first pass." Here's the BGE thing:

I almost swallowed a bristle. Luckily, it painfully jabbed into my gums and stopped.

I looked close at a bunch of chicken I had cooked at I found a few more.

I was feeding my family. Glad it was me and not my 4 year old! I threw out every brush and cleaned my grill real good. I use one of those wood scrappers and a cleaner thing made of balled up stainless weave. 3 bucks at wally world. No bristles ever again.

This type of post kicks around every summer. I was always high and mighty, "I check my grill and never find anything." I was inspecting my hot, freshly brushed grill and found a couple bristles one day. The thing is I only saw them on the second pass, not my first inspection. Wire brush went into the trash.

Now i I use a charbroiler nylon brush on the cold grates, then a 1 x 6 scrap poplar to clean the hot grates. All set!

I use a wire brush but then go behind with a ball on wet paper towels. I am cognizant of the dangers just stay vigilant.

Same here. Never have used a brush. All the brushes I have seen just get gunked up w/ grease.
