But Hatch Chiles are the same species as Anaheim chiles.“Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.” ― Philip K. Diçk -

A couple local stores here in Cleveland, OH, area bring them in and roast them outside every year. Got some last weekend and plan on getting more this weekend to freeze. They are outstanding!!-------------------------------------------------------------------------------Strongsville, OhioYes. I own a blue egg! Thanks @Eggcelsior. I didn't realize that they were such a big thing. After some Googling and more Googling; I realized how good and popular they are. I will plan on attending my local Midlothian Wegmans for the event. Thanks for the heads up. Pardon my ignorance, Eggheads. I'm ready to be baptized in New Mexico Chiles.Eggcelsior said:@500 Wegmans in Midlothian and Short Pump will have them 9/9-9/11.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

Sister you have been on a great run with grub as of late. As with your other posts, this one is great. Keep putting the Joetisserie to good use and turning out great grub.Location- Just "this side" of Biloxi, Ms.

Thanks. Glad I asked. So, you actually roast, then shrink wrap w/o scraping the black skin off? I didn't even think of that as an option. I figured you would scrape all that off, then freeze.eggnewtoy said:@thetrim: I've only frozen after roasting. Yesterday's batch. Scrape as used.
Thanks again!

Yes. You roast them, leave them to sweat in a plastic bag for an hour or a lil more then bag them in ziplocks or vacuum seal them and freeze.thetrim said:

stv8r you can google Hatch green chile shipping and get quite a few results
couple i know of are

this UPS store is right by my house and they ship a ton of chile

Getting fresh and roasting it yourself is much cheaper and you don't get the aroma of it roasting but if you get frozen its alot less work

@llrickman, @thetrim. I scrape after I thaw them. Too many to do before freezing and don't believe it compromises flavors. Kind of part of the process. Llrickman, you lucky guy. Ever go to Powdrell's or Quarters?BGE Large and MiniMax, Napolean 500. Obsessed with rotisserie.
